Myrtle Silverspot butterfly and host plants, presented by Tanya Baxter and Richard Arnold

Marin is geographically and biologically diverse and hosts over 33 federally and endangered wildlife. Richard Arnold phD and Tanya Baxter (see baxterbotanical) will talk about the biology of the Myrtle Silverspot butterfly, Speyeria zerene myrtleae. A rarely seen federally listed blue butterfly that lives in West Marin with a life-cyle tied to one plant species, the Western dog violet. Learn of the beautiful intricacies and how to detect its host plant in coastal scrub and prairie within the wildland urban interface. 

History of Fire Suppression in Marin and how it's changed local ecosystems, presented by Mark Brown.  Look for a detailed  meeting agenda shortly.
